ABOUT
I maintain a studio practice in my home west of Boston and I bring my travel watercolor set wherever my travels take me. I love to grow things. My garden and my potted plants inspire my creativity. I never tire of looking at or painting verdure. For me the color green symbolizes hope and possibility.
After receiving my BFA at Saint Lawrence University, I worked as an art educator, and went on to earn an MS in Art Education at the Massachusetts College of Art.
My work includes botanicals, landscapes and ocean-related subjects. I work primarily in watercolor for the immediacy of the medium when working en plein air, and also use acrylics and oils in the studio. At the moment I am focusing on creating surface patterns from my original paintings for textile design.
I'm available for custom work, commissions, and collaborations. I also teach painting out of my studio. Feel free to contact me at kate.dahmen@gmail.com or follow me on Instagram @kate.dahmen.studio
